LANCASTER, Pa. – No. 6 Franklin & Marshall suffered a 12-11 setback to No. 5 Gettysburg in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening. The game went back and forth with five ties and four lead changes as the Diplomats fell to 12-3, 7-1 CC.
Caroline Krohn led all players with three goals and five assists while Brittney Jorgenson tallied three times and Mary Mitchell finished with a goal and an assist. Emily Everdell, Emily D'Erasmo, Grace Saliba and Lauren Selawski all finished with a goal. Saliba added an assist and Selwaski's goal was the 100th point of her career.
Jorgenson tallied 3:30 into the game off a feed from Krohn before Gettysburg (15-1, 8-0 CC) tallied two straight to go up 2-1. Krohn made it 2-2 and the Bullets briefly went back on top before Jorgensen and D'Erasmo netted back-to-back score to put F&M up 4-3 at 15:21.
Saliba hooked up with Mitchell at 7:53 for a 5-4 F&M advantage, but the Bullets ended the half strong with 4-1 run to take an 8-6 edge into the break.
Gettysburg went up three, 9-6, off a goal by Amanda Borucki and Krohn put F&M within two, 9-7, at 26:25. The Bullets put one through at 16:36 before Krohn assisted both Selawski and Jorgenson on back-to-back goals which brought F&M within a score, 10-9, at 12:46.
Loren Pruitt gave Gettysburg an 11-9 edge at 9:56 and the Diplomats battle back with two unanswered goals to tie the game at 11-11 with 3:35 left to play. Everdell and Saliba scored for F&M in the run. The teams exchange possessions down the stretch and Kelsey Markiewicz found Lindsey Robinson for the game winner with 1:40 left to play.
Kelsey Hoffman took the loss with 14 saves with Lindsay Clinton picking up the win with four stops.
F&M wraps up the regular season on Saturday at Dickinson. Game time is set for 12:00 noon.
