Zichelli and Slade Named Assistant Women’s Lacrosse Coaches

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall head women's lacrosse coach Mike Faith announced Katie Zichelli and Katie Slade as the Diplomats' new assistant coaches.

Zichelli brings three years of collegiate coaching experience, all from Susquehanna University, and a plethora of honors. In the 2012-13 season, Zichelli and the rest of the coaching staff were named Landmark Conference Co-Coaching Staff of the Year and Zichelli was also named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Outstanding Assistant Coach for the Division III level. Zichelli will run the defense for F&M.

A member of the Lock Haven University women's lacrosse team from 2008-11, Zichelli enjoyed a very successful career. Her accomplishments include being a three time First Team All-America player, earning All-America Second-Team honors as a freshman, being named Division II SynapseSports.com Defender of the Year honors (2010, 2011) and receiving the 2009 Division II Defender of the Year recognition. She graduated in May 2011 with a degree in marketing and management.

Slade comes to F&M after three years of coaching at her alma mater, the University of Scranton. As a player, she was a four time All-Landmark Conference selection, including first team honors in each of her final three seasons. Slade netted 84 goals and racked up 16 assists to finish with 100 points in 62 career games. She earned a bachelor of science degree in elementary/special education in May 2011.

Scranton's all-time leader in caused turnovers (123), Slade will work primarily with midfielders, defenders, and goalkeepers.

The Diplomats finished last season with a 17-6 mark and received an NCAA at-large bid where F&M eventually fell to Salisbury in the NCAA Regional Finals.
