Series History: Franklin & Marshall meets Catholic for the second time in series history. Last season, the Diplomats defeated the Cardinals 17-11 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Diplomats take on Swarthmore this Saturday for the 31st time with a 27-3 record in the series. F&M has a 14-game winning streak with the Garnet's last victory occurring in 2000.
In the Rankings: Franklin & Marshall's women's lacrosse team moved up a spot to third in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Poll, released Monday.
F&M Last Week: F&M picked up two Centennial Conference victories last week with an 18-0 win over Bryn Mawr to start the week before downing McDaniel 20-6 on Saturday.
Gabby Frank and Grace Saliba paced the Diplomats with two goals and three assists each while Hannah Serling, Siobhan Burke and Ryann Laible all scored twice for the Diplomats against Bryn Mawr. Natalie Delinsky, Kimberly Abruzzo, Emily Everdell, Taylor Freud, Casey Madden, Claire Jackson, Aly Saliba and Yen Baker each netted a goal.
Paige Moriarty finished with a game-high five assists and Serling, Delinsky, Abruzzo, Madden and Jackson all ended with an assist.
Danielle Harrington picked up the win and improved to 5-0 while Katie Alpert took the loss with two saves.
F&M outshot Bryn Mawr 23-0, held a 12-4 edge in ground balls and finished with 15 clears.
Frank finished with three goals and two assists and Moriarty assisted on four goals and scored once, while Jorgenson and Saliba both scored three goals and dished out one assist in the victory over McDaniel. Everdell, Abruzzo, D'Erasmo and Claire Jackson all ended with two scores and Moriarty along with Kelly and Baker each struck once. Anastasia Mergner and Siobhan Burke each had an assist.
Mergner caused three turnovers to pace the defense and collected three draws, while Samantha Blicht and Kelly caused two turnovers. Caroline Doran and Saliba both collected four ground balls and Taylor Freud, Kelly and Mergner notched three draws apiece.
Kaitlin Hardt picked up the win with three saves and improved to 5-0 and Lily Galzerano took the loss with 16 saves.
F&M outshot McDaniel 43-13, went 15-for-16 clears and held a 15-13 edge in draws.
Last Time We Met Catholic: In their first meeting, Franklin & Marshall downed Catholic 17-11 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Brittney Jorgenson finished with four goals and an assist while Caroline Krohn, Natalie Delinsky and Emily Everdell all tallied three goals apiece. Gabby Frank, Mary Mitchell, Anastasia Mergner and Megan Kelly all struck once while Mitchell, Krohn and Blicht each dished out two assists.
Kelly led the defense with three caused turnovers and three ground balls while Caroline Doran and Mergner each had two caused turnovers.
Last Time We Met Swarthmore: Franklin & Marshall defeated Swarthmore 18-8 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action. Krohn, Everdell, and Grace Saliba paced F&M with three goals each while Mitchell, Ali Kelly, and Kimberly Abruzzo each picked up a pair. Abruzzo also dished out two assists for the Diplomats.
Kelsey Hoffman had 10 saves and improved to 9-3 while Michelle Ammerman took the loss with seven stops.
F&M outshot Swarthmore 43-23 and went 13-for-14 on clear attempts.
