Series History: F&M takes on Gettysburg for the 54th time on Wednesday and hold a slight 28-25 edge in the series. However, the Bullets have won the last five, including a 9-5 win in the CC Championship game last year. Dickinson and F&M will square off for the 40th time on Saturday, with F&M winning the previous 39 contests.
CC POTW: Franklin & Marshall junior goalie Kaitlin Hardt was named the Centennial Conference (CC) Defensive Player of the Week for women's lacrosse announced Monday. The honor is the first for both Hardt and the F&M program this season.
Hardt picked up two victories last week with six saves and a 3.33 goals against average. She allowed just one goal in 30 minutes of action in F&M's 15-4 win over Ursinus and finished the week with six stops in the 19-4 victory over Haverford on Saturday.
Coaches Poll: F&M moved up to the second spot in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWCLA) Coaches Poll. Gettysburg is ranked sixth as the only other CC school ranked.
Regional Rankings: F&M jumped out to a No. 1 ranking in the NCAA Metro Regional Rankings last week while Gettysburg was ranked second.
CC Playoffs: With a 7-0 CC record and two games left to play, the Diplomats have secured a spot in the CC Playoffs this year and a win on Wednesday will lock down the No. 1 seed for the Diplomats.
F&M Last Week: F&M picked up two CC victories last week with wins over Ursinus and Haverford.
No. 3 Franklin & Marshall downed Ursinus 15-4 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Wednesday evening.
Paige Moriarty and Natalie Delinsky paced the offense with three goals each while Morairty added three helpers to her stat line. Gabby Frank netted two scores and Hannah Serling, Casey Madden, Siobhan Burke, Claire Jackson, Anastasia Mergner, Megan Kelly along with Brittney Jorgenson all finished with a goal for F&M. Katie Groenke, Vanessa Budd and Jorgenson each dished out an assist to help propel the Diplomats' offense.
Caroline Doran and Budd caused two turnovers each to pace the defense while Stephanie Speese, Serling and Delinsky all collected three ground balls. Kaitlin Hardt picked up the win as she allowed just one goal in 30 minutes of action and Danielle Harrington turned away four shots in the second half for the Diplomats.
No. 3 Franklin & Marshall cruised to a 19-4 victory over Haverford in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.
Paige Moriarty paced the Diplomats with four goals and one assist and Brittney Jorgenson added three scores and one helper for the Diplomats. Grace Saliba scored twice with an assist and Casey Madden along with Natalie Delinsky both picked up a pair of scores while Gabby Frank, Hannah Serling, Christie Huidekoper, Emily Everdell, Katie Groenke and Claire Jackson all scored for the Diplomats. Everdell's goal was the 100th of her career.
Kimberly Abruzzo, Taylor Freud, Emily D'Erasmo and Anastasia Mergner all finished with an assist. Samantha Blicht led the defense with four caused turnovers and five ground balls and Moriarty finished with five caused turnovers and five ground balls. Rachael Consoli and D'Erasmo both had two caused turnovers, and Mergner came away with four draws.
Kaitlin Hardt picked up the win in goal with six stops and improved to 8-0 while Megan Chenworth took the loss with 10 stops.
Last Time We Met Gettysburg: Gettysburg defeated Franklin & Marshall 9-5 in the Centennial Conference (CC) Women's Lacrosse Championship. Mary Mitchell finished with two goals and two assists, Caroline Krohn had two scores and Gabby Frank finished with a goal. Grace Saliba also finished with a helper.
Christie Bonfiglio caused two turnovers and picked up two ground balls for F&M, Samantha Blicht finished with a team-high three grounds and Anastasia Mergner came away with seven draws.
Kelsey Hoffman had six saves and fell to 13-5 while Shannon Keeler picked up the win with 10 stops.
F&M had a slight 24-23 edge in shots, caused 11 turnovers and went 13-for-15 in clear attempts.
Last Time We Met Dickinson: Franklin & Marshall defeated Dickinson 20-10 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action. Brittney Jorgenson led the Diplomats on the scoreboard with three goals, and Delinsky, Abruzzo, Jackson, Mergner, Kelly, and Saliba each picked up a pair. Saliba also finished with four assists, while Ali Kelly had two.
Megan Kelly came away with four draws, while Anastasia Mergner collected three ground balls. Christie Bonfiglio, Ali Kelly, Mary Mitchell and Emily D'Erasmo both picked up a pair of ground balls on the afternoon.
Kelsey Hoffman earned the win after registering three saves, while Dickinson's Tara Cuddihy took the loss after stopping six shots.
