CARLISLE, Pa. – Gabby Frank and Brittney Jorgenson combined for nine goals to lead No. 2 Franklin & Marshall to a 17-11 victory over Dickinson in the regular season finale. The Diplomats improved to 15-2, 8-1 CC while the Red Devils dropped to 8-7, 4-5 CC.
F&M started out with an 8-1 lead midway through the first half. Frank gave F&M an early 1-0 lead six minutes into the game and the Red Devils answered two minutes later and tied the game at 1-1. F&M responded with a Jorgenson-led 7-0 run and took an 8-1 lead at 12:29. The Red Devils countered and outscored F&M 4-1 over the next eight minutes to come within four, 9-5, but F&M answered with two straight and took an 11-5 lead into the break.
The Diplomats started the second by outscoring Dickinson 3-1 in the opening ten minutes of play and went up 14-6, but Dickinson answered with a 5-0 run and came within three, 14-11, with a little over two minutes left in the game. F&M finished strong with three answered points to secure the win.
Frank had a game-high five goals while Jorgenson finished with four scores and one assist. Emily Everdell, Paige Moriarty, Megan Kelly and Grace Saliba all finished with two goals for the Diplomats. Moriarty added three helpers and Katie Groenke along with Saliba finished with an assist.
Danielle Harrington picked up the win with five saves while JoJo Auerbach took the loss with three stops.
F&M outshot Dickinson 28-21, held a slight 14-13 edge in ground balls and went 13-for-15 in clear attempts.
The Diplomats return to action next Saturday when F&M takes on Washington in the first round of Centennial Conference Playoffs hosted by Gettysburg.
