LANCASTER, Pa. -- Former Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse standout Sarah Meisenberg '09 was named to the Israel Lacrosse National Women's Lacrosse Team's 18-player roster. The team will compete at the 2015 ELF European Lacrosse Championships, held at Sportovní Centrum in Nymburk, Czech Republic, from August 6-15.
The team is ranked 8th in the world — but are unranked in Europe — as 2015 marks Israel's debut in a women's European Championship event. Israel joins 16 other countries who are vying for a Gold Medal in the small city located on the outskirts of Prague.
The blue-and-white have been drawn into the "group of death" with 5th-ranked Wales (No. 2 in Europe), 14th-ranked Netherlands (No. 7 Europe) and newcomer Italy. Israel must finish in the top two in the group to advance to the playoff round.
Meisenberg was one of the most decorated players in program history. She was a three time All-American, earned four All-Region First Team selections and was named All-Centennial Conference all four years , including three first team selections. Meisenberg became the fifth member of F&M's 100 assists club has tallied 136 career goals and currently ranks 10th on the school's career point list with 239 and third in career draw controls (203). She is the career leader in caused turnovers (114) and in ground balls (217).
Meisenberg was also a two-year captain in basketball, starting in every game from her sophomore to senior year. She graduated ranked first in career free throws (430), first in career assists (367), third in career steals (235) and fifth in career points (1529) and started in more games than any Diplomat with 101 starts.
