Diplomats Shutout Garnet; Frank Reaches 100 Goals

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – No. 5 Franklin & Marshall shutout Swarthmore 15-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon.  The win is the seventh straight for F&M as the Diplomats improved to 13-1, 5-0 CC while the Garnet dropped to 5-7, 1-4 CC. 

F&M struck early and often and jumped out to a 6-0 lead just 11 minutes into the game. The Diplomats tacked on four more and went up 10-0 with a little over 10 minutes left in the first half and took a 12-0 lead into the break. F&M backed off in the second half, only taking five shots, but connected on three of those shots for a 15-0 lead with 7:20 left to play. 

Gabby Frank paced the offense with two goals and two assists on three shots and reached the 100-goal plateau in her career. Claire Jackson found twine on all three shots she took while Paige Moriarty and Grace Saliba both finished with two scores and one assist.  

Caroline Kolva struck twice, and Anastasia Mergner, Aly Saliba, and Maddie Hughes all netted a goal for F&M. Hughes finished with an assist and Claire Miller handed out two helpers. 

Mergner added two ground balls, and two caused turnovers and Peyton Annese along with Taylor Freud both finished with two ground balls. Freud recorded two draws and two caused turnovers as well. 

Danielle Harrington improved to 10-0 with three saves while Kaitlin Hardt and Julia McKay also saw time in net and did not allow a goal. 

F&M outshot Swarthmore 26-10, held a 13-4 advantage in draws and went 11-for-14 in clear attempts. 

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday when F&M hosts Ursinus at 7:00 p.m.
