Sabol and Eddowes Join Women's Lacrosse Staff

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall head women's lacrosse coach Mike Faith announced Brooke Sabol and Emily Eddowes as the Diplomats' new assistant coaches. Sabol replaces Katie Zichelli, who took the head coaching job at Haverford, while Eddowes moves into Meg Bartley's position who became an assistant coach at George Washington.

"We are very excited to have Brooke and Emily join the coaching staff," Faith said. "Both enjoyed excellent playing careers and will bring a lot of energy and knowledge to the team."

Sabol spent the previous year at York College where she helped guide the Spartans to the most successful season in program history with 16 wins and an appearance in the NCAA Elite 8. She will work primarily with the defense and the draw specialist.

Sabol is a 2016 Wheaton College graduate and four-year member of the women's lacrosse program. During her time as a Lyon she played in a total of 75 games, scoring 144 goals and registering 75 assists.

As a sophomore, Sabol helped the Lyons win the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship and was awarded the Tournament's Most Outstanding Player. In the 2014 and 2015 seasons she earned second-team all-conference, and in her senior season in 2016, she was awarded first-team All-Conference and All-Berkshire Region honors.

Eddowes previously served as the offensive coordinator for Elizabethtown College for the 2016-17 season, where she helped lead the team to an 11-5 record and an appearance in the conference semifinal. Her focus will be on the offensive side of the ball as well as working with the goalies.

Eddowes, originally from Lancaster, completed her collegiate playing career in 2016 as a four-year starter for NCAA Division II Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. As an attacker, she racked up 63 career points on 30 goals and 33 assists, while helping the Tars to a four-year record of 52-19. The Tars were the SSC runner-up in 2016 and made three NCAA tournament appearances (2013, 2015, 2016) during Eddowes' career.

In addition to coaching at Franklin & Marshall, Eddowes is also a coach at the club level with Lanco Elite Lacrosse Club.

F&M claimed its seventh Centennial Conference (CC) Crown and 12th overall Conference Championship while advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the fifth straight year and winning 15 or more games for the 11th time in the last 12 years after compiling a 17-5 overall record.
