Spartans Down Diplomats

YORK, Pa. — No. 10 Franklin & Marshall fell 9-4 to No. 6 York in non-conference women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats dropped to 1-2 while the Spartans improved to 2-0.

York opened the game with four straight for the early edge before Grace Norley scored at 20:14 to make it 4-1. The Spartans put two more on the board and Caroline Kolva netted a goal to make it 6-2 at the break.

The Spartans went ahead 8-2 early in the second and Norley struck again at 19.54 for an 8-3 score. York went ahead 9-3 at 16:24, but F&M put the final point on the board when Hannah Serling buried a pass from Jane Cote.

Grace Norley struck twice while Hannah Serling and Caroline Kolva both had a goal. Jane Cote finished with an assist for F&M.

Katie Groenke and Anya Chopoorian caused three turnovers each and Ryann Liable finished with three ground balls. Danielle Harrington (1-2) took the loss with 10 stops and had six ground ball. 

York outshot F&M 26-21, draws were even at 20-20 and F&M went 0-4 on clear attempts.

The Diplomats return to action on Saturday when F&M hosts No. 16 Messiah at 3:00 p.m.
