SALISBURY, Md. – No. 3 Salisbury downed No. 10 Franklin & Marshall 15-4 in women's lacrosse action Wednesday afternoon. The Diplomats fell to 6-3 while the Sea Gulls improved to 10-0.
F&M took control early and jumped out to a 2-0 lead three minutes into the game. Caroline Kolva put the first point on the board off a feed from Paige Moriarty and Katie Groenke struck unassisted two minutes later. It was all Salisbury after that. The Sea Gulls answered with a 5-1 run to close out the half and took a 5-3 lead into the break. Grace Norley had F&M's goal at 18:21.
Salisbury continued to dominate in the second half and outscored F&M 10-1 in the final frame. Moriarty put the lone F&M point on the board in the second at 27:22. F&M created plenty of opportunities in the game as 17 of their 23 shots were on net, but were unable get past Gianna Falcone who ended the game with 13 saves. Danielle Harrington turned away nine shots for F&M and dropped to 6-3.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Haverford a 12:00 p.m. game.
