WESTMINSTER, Md. - Kelly Crawford's goal in the 57th minute was the difference as McDaniel knocked off Franklin & Marshall in a Centennial Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon. Her goal broke up a 1-1 tie early in the second half, allowing the Green Terror (3-8-1, 2-2 cc) to hang on for a 2-1 win.
Crawford ‘s goal off of a through ball from Cara Roig beat the Diplomats' (3-10, 1-4 cc) challenging keeper, Jessica House at 56:22. It was the second time in the game that she had factored in a McDaniel in the opening minutes of a half. Hilary Hanus gave the hosts a lead at the 10:45 mark firing a shot off of an F&M defender and into the Diplomats' net. Crawford was awarded the assist.
The Diplomats tied it up late in the half when Hannah Savage buried a shot from the top of the box into the top left corner of the McDaniel net. Savage's marker at 41:10 was her second goal of the season.
The Diplomats had opportunities late, earning seven corner kicks over the final 30 minutes of play. The final corner, inserted by Jen Korngut, allowed Meaghan Mancini to fire a shot with 12 seconds remaining. The Diplomats' 17th shot of the day was blocked before it could do any damage.
