Diplomats Fall to Ospreys

LANCASTER, Pa.--  Leah Braidi scored her second goal of the season with 4:23 left in the second overtime period, as Richard Stockton defeated Franklin & Marshall 1-0 in nonconference women's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Tylus Field.

The goal came in the 106th minute on a goalmouth scramble following a corner on the left side of the field.  Bridget Connelly took the corner for the Ospreys (9-5-3) and the ball landed at the feet of Braidi, who knocked it past F&M keeper Amanda McGowan into the lower left corner of the net.

Each team had a good scoring chance in regulation.  Stockton nearly took a 1-0 lead late in the first half when Connelly fired a shot towards an open net, but was stopped by a diving McGowan.

The Diplomats (6-5-1) had a chance to go ahead in the 76th minute, but a shot by Sarah McGahran went just wide of the goal.

The Ospreys outshot the Diplomats 13-5 overall, and 5-0 in shots on goal.  The Ospreys also held a 3-1 advantage in corners.

Carley Nicholson recorded two shots to lead the Diplomats offense.  Selena Boro, and Stephanie Bartner also tallied shots for F&M.

F&M returns to the pitch on Saturday, when the Diplomats visit Washington College for a Centennial Conference matchup.  Game time is 4 p.m.
