Boro Sends Diplomats to Victory

CHESTERTOWN, Md.—Selena Boro scored her second goal of the season in the 33rd minute, as Franklin & Marshall defeated Washington College, 1-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.  It is the sixth 1-0 win for the Diplomats this season.

F&M (7-5-1, 5-3 CC) got on the board when Holly Lagasse delivered a free kick that Boro collected near the box and drove the ball past Shorewomen keeper Tori Ripple for the only goal of the game.

Amanda McGowan made two saves for the Diplomats en route to her seventh shutout of the season.  With the win, McGowan improves her record to 7-5-1.

Nancy Epstein and Stephanie Bartner led the Diplomats with three shots apiece.  Boro and Alexa Yarish each recorded two shots on goal.  Jen Korngut, Allyson Reid, and Carley Nicholson also tallied shots for the Diplomats.

F&M outshot Washington 13-8 overall, and 7-2 in shots on goal.  The Diplomats also held a 5-2 advantage in corners.

The Diplomats return to action on Wednesday with a CC game against Gettysburg at Tylus Field.  Game time is 4:30 p.m.
