Diplomats Tie Lady Scots in Opener

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall battled Covenant to a 0-0 tie in its season opener. Stellar defense and ball control kept the Lady Scots off of the board.

The Diplomats outshot their opponent 23-7, but failed to find the back of net.  The F&M defense did not allow a shot on goal until the second half of the game and controlled possession throughout.

The offense put pressure on the Lady Scots throughout the match, recording 11 shots in the first and second half.  Diplomats' goalkeeper, junior Amanda McGowan was solid in net, stopping all five shots that came her way.

Senior Carley Nicholson was all over the field for F&M, recording six shots, three of which were on net.

The Diplomats return to action on Sunday when F&M hosts Emory at 1:00 p.m.
