CARLISLE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team dropped its regular season finale 1-0 against Dickinson on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) action. The loss closes out the Diplomats' record at 2-7-6, 1-5-4, while the Red Devils improve to 12-5, 6-4 CC.
F&M struggled to generate scoring chances, firing only three shots on goal in the contest. Dickinson registered 22 shots on the day with 15 of them on net.
Goalkeeper Amanda McGowan was solid, stopping 11 shots on the afternoon. Hannah Barry and Caroline Letner also saw time in net. Barry stopped the only shot she saw, while Letner recorded two saves on three shots. The lone goal was given up by Letner when Marissa Kunkle scored her sixth of the season in the 82nd minute.
In the second half, the Diplomats put pressure on goalkeeper Annie Weichert with a shot on goal by Spencer Plante in the 61st minute. However, Weichert stood tall in net, denying F&M and keeping the score 0-0.
Later in the frame, Leah Houser missed just high of the net in the 71st minute. Trailing 1-0 with just under four minutes to play in the second half a shot by Jen Korngut nearly tied up the match but was saved by Weichert.
Dickinson outshot the Diplomats 22-6 in the game. The Red Devils also held the edge on corner kicks, 6-0.
