CARLISE, Pa. – Dickinson tallied two goals three minutes apart in the first half and held on to defeat Franklin & Marshall 2-1 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action. The Diplomats fell to 5-7-3, 3-4-2 CC while the Red Devils improved to 8-6-2, 4-3-2 CC.
The Diplomats struck first early in the opening half when Alexa Yarish found Nicole Rynecki for the score at 6:01. The Red Devils answered in the 20th with a score by Roasline Savoie and Jenna Lamb netted the game-winner three minutes later for the Red Devils.
F&M had a good scoring opportunity in the 33rd minute, but Stephanie Bartner's shot hit the post.
Dickinson stayed aggressive in the second stanza outshooting F&M 10-1, but the Red Devils could not get any by Amanda McGowan who turned away seven shots in the final half.
McGowan finished with 11 saves, but dropped to 5-6-3. Charlotte Armour had two saves for the Red Devils and improved to 6-6-2.
The Red Devils had an 18-5 advantage in shots while the Diplomats held a 6-4 edge in corners.
F&M returns to action Wednesday when the Diplomats travel to Misericordia for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
