LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall fell to McDaniel by a score of 3-0 in Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer action on Wednesday night at Tylus Field. The Diplomats fell to 1-11, 0-6 CC, while the Green Terror improved to 8-2-3, 2-1-2 CC.
In the early going, no chances arose for either team until the ninth minute when Spencer Plante crossed the ball from the left side to the front of the net where the shot was deflected by Adrian Glass on net, but McDaniel net minder Haley Jacobs made the save to keep the game scoreless.
Later on in the first, Green Terror forward Catherine Wroblewski received a short pass and knocked the ball in to give McDaniel the 1-0 lead in the 27th minute.
For the majority of the second half, both teams were unable to generate many chances thanks to tough defenses on both sides. However, in the 72nd minute of the second half, Green Terror forward Meghan Sturgill lifted a free kick from the left side that barely made it over F&M goalkeeper Caroline Letner to extend the McDaniel lead to 2-0.
The Green Terror added another goal in the 88th minute as Nicole Hill's shot from the right side made it past Letner to give McDaniel the 3-0 win and eventual 3-0 victory.
Nicole Rynecki and Glass each recorded a shot on goal for the Diplomats, while Letner stopped two shots on the night.
The Green Terror held the advantage in shots at 16-3, and corners at 6-0.
F&M returns to action on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Muhlenberg for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
