Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss against McDaniel on Tuesday afternoon in Centennial Conference (CC) competition at Tylus Field.

The Diplomats fell to 5-5-1, 1-4 CC with the decision while the Green Terror improved to 10-2, 4-1 CC.

Goalkeeper Sara Ghorashi was impressive early on for F&M, sprawling out for a diving stop to her left in the seventh minute off a shot from the top-middle of the box.

McDaniel broke through in the 11th when a through ball along the left side led to a breakaway opportunity. Hannah Scheppers beat a pair of F&M defenders and slid in a low shot to the far post for the 1-0 edge.

Two more Green Terror goals over the next six minutes gave McDaniel a commanding 3-0 lead midway through the opening half.

The Diplomats' offense kept fighting and generated pressure in the latter stages of the half with back-to-back chances from Haley Barge and Izzy Hunter. However, F&M was unable to hit paydirt.

Catie Kaseta presented the Diplomats with their best chance of the half in the 41st minute. Emily Cleary dropped off a short pass to the top of the box that Kaseta rocketed on net, but the ball ricocheted off the post and out of bounds.

In the second, the Diplomats played aggressively and were nearly rewarded after forcing several turnovers in the McDaniel defensive third. The Green Terror's defense held tough throughout and limited quality chances for F&M.

The overall shot count was even at 9-9. The Diplomats surrendered just two shots in the second half as the F&M defense shut down McDaniel's potent attack.

Meg O'Callahan and Barge led the way with two shots each.

Ghorashi (3-5) was charged with the loss after giving up three goals and registering one save in 45 minutes of play. Tara Hessenthaler entered the net for the second half and turned back the only shot she faced on the day.

CC play resumes on Saturday when the Diplomats travel to Ursinus for a 3:00 p.m. tilt with the Bears.
