FORT MYERS, Fla. – Franklin & Marshall improved its winning streak to five with a pair of mercy-rule wins Thursday. The Diplomats beat both Smith College and St. Joseph's (ME) 9-1. F&M improved to 8-4.
The Diplomats needed just five innings to dispatch of Smith. Kaitlin Zampino threw a two-hit complete game with four strikeouts. Megan Pauley and Samantha Denoville each had two hits with a pair of RBIs. Pauley also scored two runs and stole a base.
Nicole Casey tossed a one-hit complete game at St. Joseph's in the nightcap. Julie Jefferson stroked four hits, including two doubles, while Caitlin Brust and Alicia Kukoda each had doubles. Danielle Murphy, Denoville and Malorie Sassaman were solid on defense for the Diplomats.
F&M ends its Spring Break trip with games against Curry and Norwich Friday.
