CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Franklin & Marshall's Malorie Sassaman and Sam DeNoville were named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Softball All-Star Second Team, announced Wednesday. Sassaman lands on the team at shortstop, while DeNoville earns the distinction at the utility spot.
Sassaman (Pottstown, Pa. / Pottstown) continues to collect postseason accolades, having been named the Centennial Conference (CC) Player of the Year and earning a spot on the conference first team for the third time in her career, while also being named to the NFCA East Region Second Team.
The senior shortstop was stellar at the plate this season, leading the CC with an impressive .455 batting average, which was good for fifth-best in school history. She also broke her own record for hits in a season with 57 and led the team in runs scored (24), triples (three), on base percentage (.511) and slugging percentage (.620).
DeNoville (Jackson, N.J. / Msgr Donovan) earns her second postseason honor after also being named to the All-CC First Team. She led the Diplomats with 10 doubles on the season and compiled 45 total hits, good for second on the squad. The senior utility player's .395 average ranked second on the team, as did her .570 slugging percentage.
F&M registered a 25-14 overall record, including a 10-6 CC mark on the year. The Diplomats narrowly missed out on the playoffs, but swept the CC's top team, Muhlenberg, to end the season.
