SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women picked up their ninth Centennial Conference (CC) win in as many tries with a 127-78 win at Swarthmore on Saturday. Rebecca Daen, Olivia Hill, and Krista Hollingsworth each had a hand in three first place finishes on the afternoon.
Hollingsworth and Hill worked with Kathering DeCrosta and Ana Franzluebbers to set the tone in the opening race, taking the 400-yard medley relay in 4:10.83, giving the Diplomats (2-1, 2-0 CC) entry a 1.01 second win over the Garnet (1-2, 1-1 CC) quartet.
The Diplomats extended the early lead taking the top three spots in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Hill was the first to the wall in 10:50.39, followed by Caitlyn Fuller (11:07.43) and Garland Bartlett (11:14.23).
At 2:01.15, Swarthmore's Erin Lowe edged Franzluebbers by .15 seconds in the 200-yard freestyle to break up F&M's early run on first place points, but the third and fourth place finishes by the Diplomats' Maggie Johns and Emily Zacherl in the canceled out the Garnets' points.
Rebecca Daen and Jackie Behr got F&M right back on track with a one-two finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Daen touched in 25.38 followed by Behr at 26.18. Daen went on to win the 100-yard free with Franzluebbers taking second. The Diplomats' pair posted respective times of 56.01 and 57.24. Daen also won the 100-yard freestyle and swam a leg for the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay. Daen posted a 56.01 in the 100 followed by Franzluebbers at 57.24. In the 400 free relay, Daen joined with Hollingsworth, Courtney Gregor and Maggie Johns logged a 3:47.03 for the win.
Hollingsworth won the 200-yard backstroke followed by Fuller with respective times of 2:19.14 and 2:20.76. Hill and Johns went one-two with comfortable cushions in the 500-yard freestyle. Hill touched in 5:17.24 followed by Johns at 5:20.74. The first Swat swimmer hit the wall at 5:33.60.
F&M returns to action tomorrow afternoon against The College of New Jersey.
