Diplomats Earn First Win

LANCASTER, Pa.—Franklin & Marshall won the first eight events before flipping into exhibition mode, as the Diplomats defeated Bryn Mawr 120-70 to earn its first win of the season on Saturday.

The team of Krista Hollingsworth, Christine Werner, Jackie Behr, and Rebecca Daen got things started on the right foot for the Diplomats, winning the 400 yard medley relay in a time of 4:15.81.  Hollingsworth, Werner, and Daen also recorded individual victories on the afternoon, with Hollingsworth capturing the 100 yard freestyle, Werner taking the 200 yard individual medley, and Daen winning the 50 yard freestyle.

Other victories came courtesy of Olivia Hill in the 1000 yard freestyle, Katherine Grant in the 200 yard freestyle, Stephanie Brooks in the 100 yard butterfly, and Katherine DeCrosta in the 100 yard backstroke.

The Diplomats also recorded second place finishes in all scoring events except for the 50 free, where Kristina Xiang edged out Alexia Tomlinson for second.

Although the final three events were exhibitions, F&M touched first in all three, with Caitlyn Fuller taking the 500 yard freestyle, DeCrosta capturing the 100 yard breaststroke, and Hill, Grant, Behr, and Maggie Johns teaming up to win the 400 yard freestyle relay.

F&M will be back in action tomorrow, when they head to Ewing, N.J. to face The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m.
