GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Katherine Grant secured two top place finishes as Franklin & Marshall suffered its first Centennial Conference (CC) loss, falling to Gettysburg 121-84, in women's swimming action on Saturday. The Diplomats finished the regular season at 6-3, 6-1 CC while the Bullets improved to 9-0, 7-0 CC.
Grant cruised to easy victories in both the 1000 freestyle and 500 freestyle. In the 1000 the freshman beat the competition by 12 second with a time of 10:41.66 and in the 500 with a mark of 5:14.98. Krista Hollingsworth also saw a victory in the 100 freestyle edging her closet opponent by .46, with a time of 54.41.
Hollingsworth and Grant teamed up with Jackie Behr and Courtney Gregor in the 400 freestyle relay and captured second with a time of 3:43.16. The Diplomats team of Caitlyn Fuller, Katherine DeCrosta, Maggie Johns, and Rebecca Daen finished second in the 400 medley relay at a mark of 4:10.89.
In addition to their second place team finishes, Johns and Fuller put together quality days each having a second and third place individual finishes. Johns took second in the 200 butterfly finishing with a time of 2:16.00 just in front of Alexia Tomlinson who came in at 2.22.44. Johns third place finish came in the 200 freestyle with a mark of 2:01.17 behind Krista Hollingsworth who took second place at 1:57.89.
Fuller swam to a second place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:17.65). In the 200 IM Fuller placed third with a time of 2:19.63 behind DeCrosta who took second with a mark of 2:15.06.
In addition to her contributions in the 400 freestyle, Behr also captured top-three individual finishes for the Diplomats. The junior finished second in the 50 freestyle (25.42) and third in the 100 freestyle (56.29).
Olivia Hill secured a third place finish in the 500 freestyle swimming to a time of 5:28.27.
The Diplomats return to the pool on Feb. 17 when F&M travels to Gettysburg for the CC Championships.
