Diplomats Move into Third; Relay Team Sets School Record

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team moved into third-place at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships with 376.5 points heading into the final day of events. The Diplomats trail Ursinus, who sits in first with 424 points, followed by Gettysburg in second with 413 points.

Krista Hollingsworth, Maggie Johns, Alexia Tomlinson and Katherine Grant earned a bronze with a third-place showing in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 7:50.10 to close out the day. In the process, they set a new school record, breaking the previous mark of 7:51.84 that was held since 2005.

A team of Taylor Mateja, Rebecca Citti, Courtney Collins and Jackie Behr nearly earned a bronze medal in the opening event but had to settle for a fourth-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:52.84.

Maggie Johns picked up F&M's first medal of the night by taking home silver in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:42.47. Teammate Caitlyn Fuller placed seventh at 4:52.66, followed by Kasey Christiansen, who won the consolation race to finish ninth overall at 4:52.66.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Collins netted a bronze medal with a time of 1:00.28, followed by teammate Stephanie Brooks with a seventh-place finish at 1:01.70.

Grant earned her second silver of the CC Championships with a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle at 1:53.03. Hollingsworth placed fifth in the event with a time of 1:56.10.

Collins earned her second bronze medal of the day with a third-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 1:00.82. Mateja earned points with a 16th- place showing in the consolations and a time of 1:03.21.

The CC Championships resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with preliminaries for the 1650-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, 100-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke, 200-yard butterfly and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
