LANCASTER, Pa. – Katherine Grant's time of 17:11.00 in the 1650-yard freestyle at the F&M Invitational back on Nov. 30th earned her a spot at the NCAA Championships after qualifying with the 13th-best time in the country. The meet will be held in Shenandoah, Texas from March 20-23.
Grant is the first Diplomat to qualify for the NCAAs since Tom Grabiak in 2010, and the first Franklin & Marshall women's swimmer to earn a place at the championships since Brittany McCabe in 2009.
In addition to competing in the 1650-yard freestyle, Grant will also swim in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle. This season, Grant swam her best times in both events at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships when she touched the wall at 1:55.03 to earn silver in the 200, and finished the 500 at 5:05.13 to also pick up silver.
The 500 takes place on March 20th, followed by the 200 on the 21st and the 1650 on the 23rd.
