F&M Handles Widener

Lancaster, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team earned seven first place finishes overall en route to the 122-80 victory in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats improved to 4-1, while Widener dropped to 2-6.

Katherine Grant touched the wall first in the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:06.43. Mary Ann Robison placed second with a time of 11:28.85, while Nancy Presnick finished fifth at 12:05.23. In the following event, the 200-yard freestyle, Rebecca Daen placed first with a time of 2:00.54, while Leeza Rojas touched second at 2:02.49.

In the 50-yard freestyle, Jillian Albus finished second with a time of 25.53, while Charlotte Katter placed third at 26.44. Albus also touched first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.16. Courtney Collins finished second at 1:04.06, and Jane Posner placed third with a time of 1:08.42.

Collins touched first in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:18.06, while Caitlyn Fuller (2:19.67) and Taylor Mateja (2:25.33) placed second and fourth respectively.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Daen finished second with a time of 55.27, while Rojas touched third at 57.35. Mateja won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.24, and Katter touched fourth at 1:06.77.

Grant won her second event of the day in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:24.87. Alexia Tomlinson followed in second at 5:30.40, while Robison placed third at 5:37.70.

The Diplomats' seventh individual-race victory came in the 100-yard breaststroke when Erin Smith touched first at 1:14.48, with Fuller finishing second with a time of 1:15.08.

The Diplomats return to the pool on Jan. 18 when F&M travels to Susquehanna. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
