Diplomats Second After Day One

LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's swimming team sits in second place with 187 points after day one of the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Diplomats trail Ursinus (188.5) by one and a half points.

In the opening race of the night, the 200-yard freestyle relay, a team of Jillian Albus, Katherine Grant, Taylor Mateja, and Rebecca Daen finished first with a time of 1:37.55, which was an F&M school record.

Courtney Collins placed sixth in the 200-yard individual medley final at 2:12.85, while Caitlyn Fuller touched fifth in the consolation race with a time of 2:16.29.

Next, in the 500-yard freestyle, Grant earned gold at 4:59.49 and earned a National B cut, while Maggie Johns touched fifth with a time of 5:08.45. Alexia Tomlinson finished first in the consolation event to take ninth-place overall at 5:11.43.

Albus earned gold in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.24, which was an F&M school record. In the last event of the evening, the 400-yard medley relay, a team of Collins, Erin Smith, Albus, and Daen placed fifth with a time of 4:04.39.

The CC Championships resume tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. with preliminaries for the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, and 800-yard freestyle relay.
