Diplomats Finish Third in CC Championship

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team finished out the Centennial Conference (CC) Championship with a third place finish out of eight teams. The Diplomats collected 528 points over the span of three days, trailing 2014 champion Ursinus with 671.5 points, followed by Gettysburg with 664 points.

Katherine Grant started off the evening by picking up a gold medal for the Diplomats with a first-place showing in the 1650-yard freestyle. Grant's time of 17:09.69 broke her own school record and was good for an NCAA 'B' cut.

F&M collected a silver medal when Courtney Collins touched second in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:09.06. Taylor Mateja finished first in the consolations and ninth overall at 2:11.03.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Jillian Albus earned the bronze with a time of 53.07, while Rebecca Daen followed in fourth-place at 53.15. Albus was also named the most outstanding women's rookie performer.

Maggie Johns finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:13.75.

In the final event of the night, a team of Daen, Grant, Collins and Albus finished second and earned the silver in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.02.
