LANCASTER, Pa. – Jillian Albus was awarded most outstanding rookie swimmer this past weekend at the 2014 Centennial Conference (CC) Swimming Championship.
Since the award's inception last season, Albus is the first F&M swimmer to be honored.
Individually, Albus won the 50-yard freestyle on Friday with a time of 24.24 and won the bronze medal the following day in the 100-yard freestyle at 53.07, which was the second-fastest time in school history. On Sunday, she added another bronze in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.14 that was good for fourth-best in school history.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Albus and three other teammates won gold with a time of 1:37.55, which was a school record. Her 50-yard lead-off time of 24.18 was also a school record. Albus also contributed to F&M's silver medal in the 400-yard freestyle relay that finished at 3:34.02 and was a school record.
The F&M women's swimming team placed third at the CC Championships with 528 points, finishing behind winner Ursinus (671.5) and runner-up Gettysburg (664).
