F&M Takes Second at CC Championships; Dromerick Earns Top Honors

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's swimming team was edged out by Ursinus on the final day of the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships. The Bears captured their second consecutive CC Title with 667.5 points, while the Diplomats earned 644 points. The host school Gettysburg placed third with 586.5.

Bridget Dromerick won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:04.33, earning an NCAA B-Cut in the process. After an impressive weekend, the freshman swept the individual awards, taking home the Most Outstanding Performer honor, as well as the Most Outstanding Rookie. It is the second-straight year an F&M women's swimmer has won the Rookie recognition, as Jillian Albus received the honor last season.

Courtney Collins earned a bronze medal in the same race, finishing at 2:09.31, while Taylor Mateja placed fourth with a time of 2:10.31.

In the 1650-yard freestyle, Katherine Grant won the event at 17:34.34 and became the first swimmer in CC history to win the event at the CC Championships four times in a row. Breann Cavanagh finished fourth at 17:55.34, while Mary Ann Robison placed fifth with a time of 17:58.34.

Kellen McDonald earned a silver medal in the 200-yard butterfly after posting a time of 2:08.91, while Melissa Mullin also won silver in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:25.90. Erin Smith won the consolation (ninth overall) with a time of 2:33.54 and Michelle Wall finished 11th (third overall) at 2:34.17.

Finally, a team of Dromerick, Grant, Collins, and Albus took bronze in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:34.03, .01 seconds away from the school record which was set last year.
