LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's Becca Meyers was awarded Centennial Conference (CC) Swimmer of the Week honors for the third consecutive week on Monday. The accolade, presented by the league office, is the fourth of her career and the fourth of the season for the Diplomats.
The junior earned the recognition after winning the 1650-yard freestyle on Friday night at the F&M Invitational. Meyers' winning time of 16:53.40 was 23 seconds faster than the next competitor, and broke the previous meet record of 17:10.14. Her time also shattered the school record set in 2014 by Katherine Grant (17:09.69) and the conference record set by Rachel Glasser in 2010 (17:07.48).
Her record-setting effort is 40 seconds under the DIII NCAA B Cut, and is the second-fastest time in Division III this year.
F&M returns to the pool on Friday, Dec. 4 at the Randolph-Macon Invitational in Ashland, Va.
