GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall opened the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Friday morning, advancing swimmers to tonight's finals in all three events contested during this morning's session.
Becca Meyers posted the highest finish of the morning for F&M, recording a time of 5:02.62 in the 500-yard freestyle preliminaries to qualify with the second-fastest time and earn a place in tonight's finals. Grace Pereles and Breann Cavanagh each secured a spot in tonight's consolation finals after finishing 11th and 15th, respectively.
Courtney Collins led a strong Diplomat effort in the 200-yard IM prelims, qualifying fourth with a time of 2:10.04. Melissa Mullin also claimed a spot in the finals after taking fifth in 2:10.41. Kellen McDonald (11th) and Anna Hess (13th) earned a place in the consolation finals and will also compete again tonight.
Jillian Albus remains the sole F&M hope in the 50-yard freestyle. The junior qualified for tonight's finals after her mark of 24.70 gave her the eighth-fastest preliminary time.
Tonight's session will comprise of finals in the 200-yard freestyle relay, 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard IM, 50-yard freestyle, and 400-yard medley relay. Start time is 7:00 p.m.
