OXFORD, OH - Making her third appearance at the NCAA National Championships, Franklin & Marshall junior, Brittany McCabe, placed 38th in the 50-yard freestyle. The three-time All-America opted into the event. She qualified in the 100 and 200-yard backstroke.
McCabe posted a time of 24.91, leaving 1.5 seconds between herself and the events top swimmer in the preliminary, in which Kenyon's Elizabeth Carlton touched first in 23.41. She ended up with the silver, while Emory's Ruth Westby swam away with the gold medal, logging a 23.40 in the finals. That gave her .03 seconds over Carlton.
McCabe returns to action tomorrow in the 100-yard backstroke. She posted the sixth best qualifying time in the nation in that event.
