Alyssa Catalano and Erin Gleason took second and third place in the shot put at the Danny Curran Invitational hosted by Widener this weekend. The event was a non-team scoring affair.
Catalano was edged out by West Chester's Liz Jackson. Jackson threw a 37' 1.25" mark, while Catalano came in at 36' 10.5". Gleason was an inch behind that throw.
Catalano also took third in the hammer behind Ahsley Harbin (unattached) and Amanda Cole (Temple). Catalano's throw of 163' 4" was 10'6" off of the winning mark, but nearly 23 feet better than the closest NCAA Division III competitor.
Lucas Burbank finished sixth in the men's javelin with a throw of 173' 07". Widener's James Green recorded the winning toss at 197' 03", besting a pair of Division I opponents.
