Diplomats Begin Spring Campaign

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Franklin & Marshall began its spring track & field season at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Miami on Saturday. The event consisted of predominantly Division I teams and featured no team scoring.

Martha Stefaniak took seventh out of 14 competitors in the discus with a throw of 121'7''. Livia Meneghin placed eighth of 16 in the shot put at 33'9.25'', with Stefaniak nabbing 10th with a mark of 33'0.5''.

Brea Smith grabbed 10th in the long jump, tallying a leap of 16'1.5''.

Geena Chang and Alexandra Hawkins each secured marks of 4'11'' in the high jump to place fifth and sixth.

Hawkins also competed in the 100 meters and was the first Diplomat to cross the finish line in the event, taking 16th at 13.44. Ariel Leftkovits was next in 16th with a mark of 13.54.

In the 5000 meters, Katie Allison secured 16th (21:12.75) for the top F&M time, while Caitlin Regan placed 19th in the 400 meters with a time of 1:00.07.

F&M returns to action next Saturday at the Dickinson Little Three meet. Start time is set for 1:00 pm.
