CLAREMONT, Calif. - Sheena Crawley advanced to the final heat of the 800 meters at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday night, earning All-American honors and breaking her own school record along the way.
The junior finished second in her heat with a time of 2:09.58, breaking her own record that she set earlier this spring, to move on to Saturday's finals. The top two from each heat and three next fastest times qualify for the finals.
In a very fast paced race in cool windy conditions, Crawley was in third place with 100 meters to go before pushing forward into second in the last 50 meters. She earns All-American recognition for the third straight year at the national meet with her top-eight finish.
Crawley races in the 800 finals on Saturday at 4:20 PST.
