LANCASTER, Pa. – The Franklin & Marshall women's track & field team is ready to begin action at the 2015 Centennial Conference (CC) Championships hosted by Muhlenberg. The three-day event, which takes place at Scotty Wood Stadium, begins Friday and goes through Sunday.
The Diplomats look to improve on their eighth-place finish at the 2014 CC Outdoor Championships and the 2015 CC Indoor Championships.
Rebecca Swisher aims to win gold for the third-consecutive year in the pole vault on Friday. The junior dominated the field last year to earn all 10 points for F&M, as no other competitor was within two feet of Swisher's distance. She currently holds the F&M pole vault record at a height of 12'-03.25", which she accomplished at the Millersville Metrics on April 4.
Livia Meneghin also hopes to medal in the shot put, as the senior broke the F&M record at the Delaware Open on April 11 with a distance of 41'-05.00", which is third best in the CC this season.
Alyssa Ward holds the second-best distance in the long jump at 17'-4.75", which she achieved at the Millersville Metrics on April 4, while the freshman has the third-ranked height in the high jump at 5'-2.25", also accomplished at the Millersville Metrics.
Day one of the CC Championships begins Friday at 1:00 p.m. with the decathlon, pole vault, heptathlon, and 10,000-meter run.
