LANCASTER, Pa. – Rebecca Swisher is set to represent Franklin & Marshall at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday. The three-day championships will go from May 21-23 in Canton, N.Y., hosted by St. Lawrence University.
Swisher (Lititz, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) will be competing at the outdoor championships for the second consecutive year and this will be F&M's sixth-straight season with a representative. At the 2015 indoor championships back on March 13, Swisher tied for fourth in the pole vault and earned All-America honors as a top-eight finisher with a height of 12"-1.5". That was the junior's second All-America honor and the first for F&M in a field event in indoor competition.
Swisher enters the field as the No. 13 seed out of 22 competitors for the second consecutive year with a seed mark of 3.74 meters (12'-3.25"). Back on April 4, Swisher reset her previous F&M pole vault record of 12'-02.50" and bested it with a height of 12'-03.25" to win the event. The top eight finishers will earn All-America honors and in this year's field, the difference between the No. 8 seed and Swisher's No. 13 seed is just 1.25 inches.
The pole vault takes place at noon on Thursday. For live results click here.
