COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Rebecca Swisher claimed gold in the pole for the fourth consecutive year to lead Franklin & Marshall at the 2016 Centennial Conference (CC) Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Ursinus.
The Diplomats placed seventh with 40 points while Johns Hopkins repeated as champions with 203 points. Haverford was third at 120.50 and Dickinson took third with 83.5 points.
Swisher reset the CC meet record and improved her school mark with a height of 12'-6". The mark is fifth best in the country this year and should give her a spot at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
The 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams picked up top-five performances. The 200 team of Olivia Bendit, Kaitlin Muccio, Aleksandra Kiszka and Alyssa Ward finished in 1:50 while the 400 team crossed in 4:14.22. The team was made up of Bendit, Kiszka, Muccio and Swisher.
Ward took silver in the high jump with a height of 5'-3.75", placed seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.93 and took eighth in the long jump at 16'-.5". Morgan Gray placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 33'-7.25 and Katlin Muccio had a seventh place finish in the 400-meters with a time of 1:01.96.
F&M heads to a last chance meet next week with the NCAA Championships slated for Mar. 11-12 at Grinnell College.
