WESTFIELD, Mass. – Franklin & Marshall concluded action on Thursday at the final day of the ECAC Division III Women's Track and Field Championship, held at Westfield State University in Massachusetts. The Diplomats registered a gold and a bronze in three total events.
- Rachel Wylie paced the Diplomats with gold in the 400-meter hurdles, recording a first-place finish out of six competitors with a time of 1:02.49. She nearly missed out on bettering her top time of the season, which was a 1:02.22 mark set at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships.
- Alyssa Ward took part in the triple jump on Wednesday but was unable to better her season-best distance in a last-ditch effort to qualify for NCAA's. She recorded a distance of 11.11 meters at the ECAC event, a mark which placed fourth out of nine competitors. Hunter's Tristan Bevans led the way at 11.43 meters.
- Ward secured bronze in the long jump with a distance of 5.22 meters to place third out of nine participants. However, she was unable to improve on her season-best of 5.42 meters, which she recorded at the CC Championships.
Wylie holds the Diplomats' best shot at qualifying for the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Championships. With 22 participants being selected in the 400-meter hurdles, Wylie's season-best time places her 16th in the nation. With numerous competitions still set to take place during the remainder of this week, Wylie's time will need to remain in the top-22.
For those that qualify, the NCAA Championships will take place from May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio. The final field is set to be announced on Saturday morning at NCAA.com.
