Diplomats Fall to Transylvania

HUNTINGDON, Pa.—Franklin & Marshall fell to Transylvania in the opening match of the ASICS Invitational in non-conference volleyball action Friday night at Juniata College.  The Diplomats took the opening set 25-22, but the Pioneers would take control, winning the second set 25-23, before closing out the match with 25-16 and 25-19 victories in the final two sets.

The Diplomats (1-3) were paced offensively by Kerry Rom and Julie Harvey, who combined for 27 of the Diplomats' 46 kills.  Defensively, four players recorded double-digit digs. Caitlin Krutsick set up the Diplomats' attack, tallying 40 of the team's 43 assists on the evening.

Franklin & Marshall will attempt to right the ship tomorrow when they take on host Juniata College, followed by a rematch with Randolph-Macon, who defeated the Diplomats in four sets at the St. Mary's Tournament last weekend.  The Juniata match begins at 11 a.m., followed by the Randolph-Macon match at 3 p.m.
