Series History

Franklin & Marshall opens 2019 at home against Mary Washington on Friday. The Diplomats and the Eagles are meeting for just the second time since 1998. Mary Washington won the last meet-up in a 3-1 set in Ithaca, N.Y. in 2017.

The first match of Saturday's doubleheader is between F&M and Geneseo. The last three times the Diplomats and Knights faced each other was in the Allegheny Tournament, and this is the first matchup between them since 1997.

F&M and Arcadia are facing each other for the first time on a non-neutral site, and the second time in history. The Diplomats beat them 3-0 in Collegeville, Pa. on the campus of Ursinus College in 2015.

Polls

F&M received four top-25 votes in the AVCA coaches poll, placing them just outside the top 25 in the nation. The Diplomats were selected to finish first in the Centennial Conference in the annual CC Volleyball Preseason Poll. They received nine of the 11 possible first-place votes.

Record Book Watch

Grace Polisano enters the season 21st in program history with 828 career points, just 21 points shy of Kerry Rom '12 (849) for the no. 20 spot. She is also fifth in program history with 895 service attempts, and only 25 away from passing Parys Zambas '17 for fourth.

Grace Maggiore has recorded 116 career services aces, which is 21st in program history. Nine more aces would catapult her into the No. 16 spot in program history, passing Nicole Kushman '07.
