LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall picked up a sweep of Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference (CC) volleyball action on Wednesday night, 3-0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-14).
The Diplomats improved to 18-3, 9-0 CC while the Owls fell to 0-17, 0-8 CC.
F&M quickly jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the opening set, including two separate 4-0 runs. The Diplomats kept them at an arm's reach over the next 14 points on an 8-6 run. With the score at 19-8, F&M picked up six of the final seven points to win the set, 25-9, on a Nicole Carey kill.
Caroline Elgut was the catalyst to set two's victory. At 5-3, F&M took eight consecutive points, including five Elgut service aces, to earn a 13-3 advantage. The Diplomats were able to coast to another 25-9 set victory from that point forward.
Bryn Mawr kept up with F&M for a while into the third and final set. F&M held just an 8-6 lead before taking 16 of the next 22, including separate runs of 6-0 and 5-0, to take a 24-12 lead en route to the 25-14 set victory.
The Diplomats return to play Friday, facing No. 16 Juniata on the road at 7:00 p.m.
