LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's volleyball team took a 3-0 sweep (25-10, 25-17, 25-12) of Lancaster Bible College in non-conference play on Wednesday night.
The Diplomats improved to 19-4. 9-0 CC while the Chargers fell to 16-13 overall.
LBC hung close with the Diplomats in the opening set, trailing just 7-6 after 13 points before F&M's onslaught began. The Diplomats went on a 17-3 run to go up 24-9 en route to the 25-10 set victory. The final three F&M points came on kills from seniors Sarah Mirza and Grace Polisano.
The Chargers took a commanding 9-3 lead early in set two. However, the Diplomats surged to a decisive 25-17 win, taking 22 of the final 30 points to stun LBC.
F&M continued the hot streak into set three, taking a 15-3 lead that included a run of seven consecutive Diplomat points. F&M coasted to a 25-12 win from there to clinch the match.
The regular season concludes on Saturday. The Diplomats travel to Johns Hopkins in a battle between two teams with 9-0 records in the Centennial Conference at 2:00 p.m.
