LANCASTER, Pa. – Franklin & Marshall's women's cross country team will kick off the 2013 campaign this Saturday when F&M hosts the Blue & White Open. With two seniors on the roster this season, the Diplomats will look for their underclassmen to play a major role this year.

The 2013 Diplomats

F&M lost one of the most decorated runners in school history with the graduation of Sheena Crawley. Crawley will not be replaced by just one runner, instead the Diplomats must make up for her departure with a team effort. F&M will use a mixture of experienced runners and a group of freshmen to stay in the top half of the Mideast Region this season.

Returning Contributors

Katie Lane, Sr.
Kim Hilfrank, Jr.
Jessica Love, Jr.
Mallory Reed, So.

Mallory Reed will be key to helping the Diplomats stay competitive. Reed turned in four top-10 performances a year ago, including a second-place finish at the Coach Achtzehn Classic. Katie Lane will be joined by Kim Hilfrank, Charlotte Roth and Jessica Love to make up half of the top eight and provide leadership for the younger Diplomats. Sophomores Julia Zielinski and Hana Seglem will add depth to the F&M lineup.

Freshman Brielle Stander will make an immediate impact and looks to break into the top three early in the season. Kelsey Conrad and Abby Lawlor round out the freshmen class. Also looking to break into the top eight are sophomores Caroline Muir, Victoria Ngo, Kristy Schultz and Rachel Weiss

The Road Ahead

F&M opens the season with the Blue & White Open before returning home the following week to host the Little Three Meet at Baker Campus.  The prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh is slated for Oct. 5 with the Centennial Conference Championships set for Nov. 2 at McDaniel. The Mid East Regionals will be ran at Lehigh on Nov. 16.
