The 1990-91 men's basketball squad advanced farther than any team in the program's storied history, finishing the year as the NCAA Tournament runner-up. On their way to the championship game, the Diplomats took down defending champion Rochester in the Elite Eight and demolished Ramapo by 53 points in the Final Four - an NCAA Final Four record for margin of victory. The Diplomats captured the Middle-Atlantic Conference title and concluded the year with a 28-3 record.
All-Americans and F&M Hall of Famers Will Lasky and Chris Finch led the way, while Dave Wilding joined Lasky on the NCAA All-Tournament Team. John Barnoski, Steve Bedsole, Andy Cloud, Kevin DiCello, Mark Fitzgerald, Chadd Kirk, Andy Kuhn, Chris Lyons, Mark Maggioncalda, Tom Nicholson, Ed Plakans, Kevin Weircinski, and Dave Wilding made up the rest of the squad for the Diplomats.
