One of only a few contemporary athletes to play and letter in three contact sports, Stone competed in football, wrestling and lacrosse. He was a three-year letterman at a number of positions on the grid, and was named to the All-MAC team as a defensive tackle in 1968. He was also an All-Pennsylvania Honorable Mention. Coaches Starck and Pooley moved him around to best help the team demonstrating his versatility and value.
Stone captained the team his senior year, and was named to the All-MAC team. He earned three varsity letters in the sport.
