Frank McCartney excelled in both cross country and track & field during his time in Lancaster. He was a two-time All-America selection in cross country and earned one All-America nod in track. He finished fifth in the 10,000 meters at the 1998 NCAA Track & Field Championships, and earned 30thand 31st-place finishes in the NCAA Cross Country Championships in 1999 and 2000, respectively. A two-time NCAA Mid-East Region champion, McCartney was named the Mid-East Region Male Runner of the Year by the U.S. Track Coaches Association in 2000. He helped the Diplomats claim the CC indoor track & field title in 1999 and stills holds school records for the indoor 3000 and 5000 meters and the outdoor 10,000 meters.
