Ronald was a football player and wrestler at Franklin & Marshall. In 1957 he captured the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Championship at 177 pounds with a 10-0 record and four pins. He went on to finish in second place at the NCAA National Championships in 1957. He was an EIWA silver medalist at 177 pounds in 1956, and a team captain for the 1956-57 season. After graduation, Flemming was an industrial salesman with FM-Electro Grinding Wheels Co., a division of Ferro Corp., housed in Buffalo, New York.
