Twenty-One Diplomats Named to Academic Honor Roll

Twenty-one Diplomats have been named to the 2009-10 Centennial Conference (CC) Winter Academic Honor Roll. To be nominated for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must participate in at least 50% of his or her team's contests, be a sophomore or higher and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.40. Diplomats Continue to Break Records at Virginia Tech

Megan Hunter and Sheena Crawley, along with the women’s 4x400-meter relay team, broke their own school records at the Virginia Tech Final Qualifier indoor track and field meet Saturday. Both the men’s and women’s Franklin & Marshall squads were impressive at the meet, representing the only Division III team competing. (more)

Michaelis and Anno Claim Gold

Nils Michaelis was awarded champion in the 55-meter hurdles and Kwaku Anno claimed the 400-meter dash to lead the Franklin & Marshall men’s indoor track and field team to a seventh-place finish at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday. (more)

Michaelis Sets School Record in 55-Meter Hurdles

At the Princeton Invitational on Saturday, Nils Michaelis placed second and set a new school record in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 7.83 seconds. The previous record of 7.90 was set by Mike Ryan in 1987. Michaelis’ time was good enough to land an NCAA provisional spot. (more)

Anno Leads Diplomats at Susquehanna

Kwaku Anno led the Franklin and Marshall men’s indoor track and field team with impressive marks at the Susquehanna Invitational Saturday. Anno won the 400-meter dash and with a time of 51.01 seconds and took home third in the long jump, jumping a distance of 6.39 meters. (more)

Michaelis Wins the 55 & 200-meter Dash and 55m Hurdles

Nils Michaelis won the 55-meter dash, and the 55-meter hurdlers, on Saturday at the Coach I Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall. Michaelis finished the dash in 6.78 and turned in a 7.91 in the hurdlers. The meet was a non-team scoring event and featured participants from Division’s II and III. (more)

Nils Wins 55-Meter Hurdles

Nils Michaelis won the 55-meter hurdles crossing the line at 7.85 on Saturday at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna College. Nils finished .14 seconds faster than Bernardo Ascencio who took second. The meet was a non-team scoring event and featured participates from Division’s II and III. (more)

Diplomats Compete at Golden Bear Invite

Nils Michaelis placed fourth in the 55-meter hurdles finishing at 7:91 Friday evening at the Golden Bear Invite hosted by Kutztown University. The invitational was a non-team scoring event and featured athletes from divisions two and three. (more)

Anno Sets School Record in the 300m

Kwaku Anno set a school record in the 300 meter dash at Saturday’s Jack Pyrah Invitational hosted by Villanova. Anno ran a 36.32, .49 faster than the previous record held by Jake Gomolinski’s ’08. Gomolinski recorded a time of 36.81. The invitational was a non-team scoring meet and featured athletes from all three divisions. (more)

Carl Schnabel, mentor of the men's and women's track teams at Franklin & Marshall, is a native of Lancaster. He returned to his hometown to coach the Diplomat track teams in the summer of 2003, and currently resides in the city with his wife, Jennifer, and their four children
